It’s the end of September and the vegetable beds are looking like they are nearly finished for another season. We all helped to pull out the old sweetcorn stalks. It took us all plenty of pulling to get them out

This week we were able to pull some carrots, long and thin. We all helped pick beans and pulled up a large beetroot too!

Noticing old tomatoes turning red

We have seen a lot of green tomatoes that looked as if they would never turn red, but today there was sunshine all day and we spotted them starting to change colour.

They have grown way over the top of everyone’s heads, the sweetcorn is ready to pick. There is nothing better than fresh sweetcorn at lunch time, especially when you have been the one picking it.

What are those large plants at the end of the garden? Let’s pull them up and see! We used our hands to dig in the soil and discovered potatoes; big ones and small ones, some massive ones.

We have watched our peas over the weeks getting larger and fatter. Today we picked peas, we popped them out of their pods, and then ate them at lunch time. We picked strawberries to have afterwards, they were warm and

The flamingo helps us keep the vegetables watered, early in the morning before the sun is fully up and it gets too hot. For lunch we can look for ripe strawberries and peas getting fat and ready to come out

Everyone arrived on a hot sunny morning, the first thing we did was to take turns watering the vegetables in the garden. They were very thirsty.

Pretty white flowers

Our pepper plants all have pretty white flowers on them. We sowed these way back in January and have been watching them grow on the window sill ever since.
